Sure, we have all heard the sales  pitch from the guy that guarantees 1st page rankings. It all sounds too good to be true. It usually is. How can someone guarantee 1st page rankings?

So, FACEBOOK is going to save your business? Not without a HUGE budget. Save your money and invest in a plan first.

SPAM email is the next trick. Ok…. I love spam. Do you?

Now that we have a few of the oils that people are selling on the table, let me explain them. SEO, social media and email are all three great tactics. But they are not a one size fits all type of thing. Often, small businesses buy the next shiny object in hopes that it will magically increase sales and life will be a little better. The problem is that there is NO substance to the tactic. What the business really needs is a plan and a person to initiate and facilitate that plan. Makes too much sense….

Here is why…

  1. 9 times out of 10 the business does not have a goal. Without a goal the business is just running around doing a bunch of things hoping for a good outcome.
  2. The business has not defined their cost per lead of their current process. How can you start something new without knowing where you have been and where you are at currently?
  3. Documentation of the lead cycle. Knowing what happens when a lead comes in to when they buy is very important. Also, having a good idea of conversion percentages should be near the top of the list.
  4. Now that you have all of the data. How many people do you need to achieve all of this magic?

These are just four of the things you need to think about in order to increase sales and get better at marketing. Chances are you will do nothing after reading this post. I’m cool with that. Not everyone can have what it takes to make it to the next level.
